first rehab
Hi there. I am attending rehab for alcohol for the first time tomorrow after 4 years of drinking. Any advice.?
Am 25 alcohol DEPENDANT for about 2 years. Like 3 bottles of wine a day/hiding it/drinking before work etc. Recently went to london and lost 2 great friends. The lies are the hardest part. Just some advice about rehab . thanks.
I’m a former alcoholic; sober now 11 years after a 25 year drinking career.
I don’t know what approach your rehab uses, but I must caution you that if it is a 12 step approach, PLEASE do not check your brain at the door of those AA meetings. Some people love AA but many do not, and it is critical that you realize that if you do not like AA, that’s ok.
Many people do not need or want a program; others prefer different approaches such as SMART Recovery, LifeRing, SOS, WFS, and Rational Recovery.
And know this: you CAN quit drinking. It’s hard, no doubt about it; but it can be done.
